The Great British Insulation Scheme, which was previously called ECO+, aims to upgrade and insulate the least energy efficient homes in Great Britain to help bring down people’s energy bills.

The scheme will provide grants to support those on the lowest incomes and those living in the least energy efficient homes or the lower council tax bands to insulate their homes.

The scheme will help more people than earlier versions of the Energy Company Obligation (ECO) scheme. This includes ECO4, which is the most current version.

The scheme is aimed at:

• Those living in homes with an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating D-G and within council tax bands A-D in England and A-E in Scotland and Wales.
• Low-income households living in homes with an EPC rating of D-G that might not be eligible for help under the ECO4 scheme.

The scheme will mainly offer grants to people who haven’t had any other form of funding from the UK Government towards the cost of improving their home’s energy efficiency.
